Several committees were established. Our most recent addition to the committees was the New Youth Committee which incorporates several junior members, ranging in age from 2-17yrs. Kristen Lane as nominated as Chair and is looking forward to organizing several fundraisers and events.

Members voted to have 6 events for NCRC this year. The NCRC Scholarship Committee will soon be meeting and updating our scholarship application. NCRC is proud to offer a scholarship to any Maine resident continuing their education in an Equine Related Field. This year will be the first annual Irene Cochrane Memorial Scholarship presentation. Several community fundraisers and generous donations have been received since Irene's death in July of 2003. As expected this will be a very “special” award to an honored applicant in May of 2004. If you would like more information on submitting an application please visit Scholarship .

Exciting participation in the Dexter Winterfest 2004 was among some of the new business discussed. The juniors of NCRC participated in the Snow Sculpture Competition and received a 2nd place trophy and $50 to start their fundraising efforts.

Local Horseman, Travis Gould Travis was present to inform members of his Belgium Team that offered sleigh rides on February 14th, 2004 at Hamilton Farms, during Dexter's Winterfest. Several members joined in to offer snacks and hot drinks that were offered throughout the day. NCRC welcomed over 200 participants to meet the “big guys” and have a memorable sled ride through the pines. This exceeded all expectations and was a wonderful beginning to our 4th season.

As always, NCRC welcomes all those interested in becoming involved with Horse Activities to join us at our next meeting February 26, 2004 at 7:00p.m. at the Wassookeag Snowmobile Club House, Number 10 Road in Dexter.
